COOL Driving is Nick Wilcox, I am an approved driving instructor with more than 35 years experience. I formed COOL Driving in 2007 after 9 years with a national driving school.
Married to Suzie, my partner of nearly 30 years, I find the best part of my job is waking up every morning and not having that ‘I wish I didn’t have to go into work today’ feeling. I love teaching people to drive, it’s the perfect job for me. I meet many wonderful people and get the opportunity to help them achieve one of their personal goals in life. The job satisfaction is amazing, seeing their faces light up with joy when they pass and knowing that I have taught them a skill for life which will enhance their lives immensely!
All approved driving instructors are graded either an A or a B, I am a Grade A instructor. Grades are obviously very important, though equally important is the ability to communicate with your pupils of varying ages and learning abilities. You can have all the knowledge in the world but if you aren’t able to transfer that knowledge to your pupils then what use is it? I believe success is all about teamwork between myself and my pupils – I’m no good without them and they’re no good without me, so it’s very important that a good working relationship is built between us. It’s that teamwork which has helped me constantly achieve high pass rates year after year.
